Peace in Chronic Illness

A chat community for those with chronic illness, finding peace in Jesus.

A place to chat, laugh, and pray together. A community of folks learning to live full lives even with chronic illness and pain. Join us!

Glad you're here!

It is devastating to be diagnosed with a Chronic Illness. Dealing with chronic pain and daily challenges changes your whole life. Sometimes it feels as if your life is gone. Yes, we must mourn the life we lost, the dreams that are gone, and learn to get used to a new lifestyle. Yet, we have come to know that having a chronic condition is not the end of the road.

There is life beyond chronic life challenges. Peace in Chronic Illness is a Christian support group. We pray together and learn to trust God to bring us to a place of acceptance and new growth.

If you haven't been here before, please check out More about us at the bottom of the center column. Note that is out Shout Out Chat; most of our chatting is done in Cottage Talk; scroll all the way to the top of this page to get there..

Welcome and God bless!

More about us

Peace in Chronic Illness is a Christian chat community for folks with dealing chronic illness and pain. There is life beyond chronic life challenges. We learn that God has not put us on a shelf; He still has good plans for us and still loves us and is not rejecting us. It is a challenge to adjust to our new normal, yet we believe God uses the challenges to draw us closer to Him and to each other.

Jesus died so we could know God; He does want us to talk to Him and tell Him everything. Here, we can show God's love to each other by listening to each other, praying together, and laughing.

God then opens new doors for us. Some of us turn to writing or art. Some of us begin to learn new crafts. We often find we have the time (and occasionally – the energy) to begin to write new chapters in the story of our life as we make new friends.

Please do not post links to medications or advertisements for products in your profile as they will be removed. We do not want anyone to feel under pressure to purchase anything in order to belong here. We do not wish that the site be a place to promote anything other than fellowship and a relationship with Jesus Christ. Thanks!

Statement of Faith

The leadership of the Peace in Chronic Illness chat and blog are Christians; what we believe is below. You do not have to be a Christian or agree with this in order to chat with us, though we will not allow anyone to preach anything that contradicts this. If you are a member of the site, you can also read the Statement of Faith here in a larger font.

  • There is one God who created us and is both loving and holy, and exists in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, which is the Trinity.
  • The Bible (the Old and New Testaments) is God's word and teaches us about God, Jesus, ourselves, and our faith.
  • Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and the Second Person of the Trinity. He was born of the Virgin Mary, truly God and truly man. He came to walk among us to teach us about God and to die for us and pay the price for our sins, so we can be reconciled to God. He rose again from the dead and ascended into heaven; He is our Lord and High Priest, and He will come again to take us home.
  • The Holy Spirit is the Comforter Jesus promised He would send and the Third Person of the Trinity. He convicts us of sin and then regenerates and sanctifies us so we can become all God wants us to be.
  • We were created in the image of God, but we sin and mar that image, and hurt each other. God could have kept us from sinning, but He gave us free will.
  • Jesus' death on the cross is the only way we can be forgiven for our sins, saved, and reconciled to God.
  • Those of us who have accepted the gift of salvation are reconciled to God so we can know Him now and so one day we will stand whole in every way before Him in heaven.
  • The church is made up of all who have received the gift of salvation and are trusting in Jesus as Lord of their lives. We aren't intended to live as Christians alone but in fellowship with one another as well as with God.
  • Jesus does heal today but not always. We pray and ask for help and for healing and we get to know Him better, but while He does answer and He is here for us, He does not often heal us here and now. One day, we will be healed in every way; meanwhile, He helps us thru these times and uses our illnesses and hurts to teach us to know Him better.

Chatting
We actually have two ways for members to chat here.
  1. Cottage Talk.  To get to this, scroll all the way to the top of the page and click on the "Cottage Talk!" tab, next to "My Page".  This is where we do most of our chatting and hold our planned chats. It has our den, study, garden, chapel, etc. For more details, see More about our chat room.
  2. Shout Out Chat.  This is near the top of this page (but is greyed out to non-members) and at the very bottom of the other pages on the site.  We mainly use it to see who is on the site and for occasional quick conversations.  It makes a small chime or choo-choo sound when someone types to it.  Some of us leave tabs open to the site all the time and so always appear to be in the Shout Out Chat, and it doesn't show when someone is idle.  So, if you type something to it, keep in mind that the people you see might not actually be sitting at their computer -- and if they are, they might not hear the little chime.  Can you tell why this is just a backup?

Disclaimers
You may give and receive advice on various topics in the room and it may be helpful. However, keep in mind that we cannot act in any professional capability here. You should use common sense and consult with a doctor or counselor when necessary. You participate at your own risk.

Links to external web sites are for your information; the admins and contributors here do not necessarily endorse all the content on all those sites!

This community is not a part of Rest Ministries. We know people at Rest Ministries and they are kind enough to allow us to have a group in their Sunroom, but we are not legally connected to them in any way.
